She was the daughter of Alexander McDougall and Margaret Anna Miller. She married Thaxter Reed Sr. at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on January 18, 1893.

Mrs. Thaxter Reed
Funeral services for Mrs. Thaxter Reed, prominent Portland club woman, who died last Wednesday, were held yesterday in the Homan & Son's chapel. Burial was at Rose City cemetery. Born at Arthurette, New Brunswick, in 1867, Mrs. Reed moved with her parents to Wisconsin in 1881. She was married to Thaxter Reed in 1893 and the couple came to Portland in 1911, residing here since that time. Though a member of numerous women's organizations, Mrs. Reed was best known for her work in the Portland Women's club, with which she was associated for the past 12 years. As a member of the finance committee she was active in the raising of funds for the construction of the present clubhouse. She also served as financial secretary, treasurer and member of the executive board. Other organizations of which she was a member included Nydia temple, No. 4, Daughters of the Nile, Camelia [sic] chapter, No. 27, Order of the Eastern Star and Sigma Phi chapter of the Delphian society. Besides the widower, she is survived by two sons, Stewart M. of San Francisco, Cal., Thaxter Jr. of Portland, and a brother, H. W. McDougall of Wisconsin.
