She was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy and valedictorian of her class. She worked in Erie as a stenographer, and later in the office of the parole board. She enjoyed the cottage vacations during the summer months near the beaches of Cape Cod, Mass.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Peter P. Abbate, in 1969; four brothers: Guido, Art, Roy and Tom Bernardini; and two sisters: Ida Spadacene and Lena Pace.
She is survived by her four sons: Mark Abbate and spouse Marcia Weissmann of Norfolk, Mass., Scott Abbate and spouse Dawn of Cranberry Twp., Pa., Jeff Abbate and spouse Cindy of Beaverton, Ore., and Matthew Abbate and spouse Kami of Franklin, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
