Leonard Roy Davis, 90, of Robbinsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Frank and Mary Massey Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian Hooper, Annie Ayers, Lucille Toomey; his brother, Clyde Davis and his great grandson, Parker McLeod.

Mr. Davis was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country during WWII. Leonard was very proud to be a WWII Veteran and during his time in service he served in Company "C" 1st Tank Battalion in the European Theater. Leonard served at the Battles of Tunisia, Africa; Naples Roggia; Rome-Arno; Northern Apennines; and Po Valley. He was awarded the EAMET Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, which is awarded to soldiers who distinguished themselves from among their fellow soldiers by their exemplary conduct, efficiency and fidelity; and a Purple Heart, after being wounded at the Anzio Beach Head in Italy.
