The Elijah Alexander Williams family had recently moved by train from Monroe, Union Co., North Carolina to Nashville. Little Clayton, less than a year old, had gotten sick aboard the train. He died soon after they arrived in Nashville. He is buried near the north fence of the Nashville Cemetery. His parents and several siblings are buried there also.
