who departed this life on the 3rd of September 1776 aged 40 years

This monument is erected as tribute of respect to the memory of
John Thompson, Esq. Second Justice of the Court
of common pleas for the County of New Castle
who departed this life on the 31st of October 1790 aged 61 years
This monument is erected removed from a private burial ground by Act of the
General Assembly of the state A.D. 1913
