Rosie was born and raised in North Carolina…raised in Havelock, settled in New Bern. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Velva Burroughs. She is survived by her beloved husband Conrad Antaya, her two children Jackie Adams Phifer and son-in-law Jimmy Phifer, Jenny Adams Sanderson and son-in-law Dean Sanderson, her four grandchildren Garrett & Erin Phifer, David & Adam Sanderson, her brother Harold "Ricky' Burroughs and sister-in-law Glenda Burroughs, and sister Raye Ann Maher and brother-in-law Marty Maher.
Rosie was a third generation employee at Fleet Readiness Center East Cherry Point NC. She served 26 years before retiring from the business office. After retiring Rosie volunteered with her husband at New Song UMC in various ways before falling ill. They greeted incoming patrons, worked in the admin office and led small groups. Rosie loved giving back to the community through Operations Christmas Child and serving the local soup kitchen and homeless shelter (Religious Community Services of New Bern). Mamma's hobbies were studying her Bible, watching the birds in her back yard, scrapbooking and painting pottery with her children and grandchildren and Netflixing in bed with her Conrad.
Rosie was/IS dearly loved by many. She was gracious in so many wonderful ways. She loved bringing comfort to others by lending an open heart and ear, by speaking encouraging words through genuine love and kindness and most certainly she loved to make people laugh. God knows all who knew her will miss her belly laugh and warm hugs.
Rosie personally requested, in lieu of flowers, please give to her cherished New Song United Methodist Church, 521 West Grantham Road, New Bern NC 28562.
