Gladys O. Carter, 83, of the Romeo Community, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

She retired as a developmental technician at Greene Valley Developmental Center with over 25 years of service and also served as a Foster Grandparent at Ottway School as long as her health permitted

Mrs. Carter was a member of Romeo United Methodist Church where she served as secretary/treasurer for over 25 years and was a member of Romeo United Methodist Women

She was also a member of the Weaver's Square Dance Club.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Terry Robert and Sheila Carter; a grandson: Jarrod Carter, all of the Romeo Community; four brothers and three sisters-in-law: William "Jack" and Yen Fair of Columbia, SC, Charles Fair of Evansville, IN, Carl and Rose Fair of Mohawk, David and Diane Fair of Mosheim; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Geneva Brotherton of the Romeo Community, Polly and Hugh Allen Jones of the Sunnyside Community; special friend: Wanda Tweed of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the daughter of the late William and Verna Goodman Fair and was preceded in death by
her husband, Robert W. "Joe Dick" Carter; special aunt and uncle who raised her, Joda and Mae
Pattison; and two sisters, Larue Gosnell and Mary McAmis.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Romeo United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Jennings and Rev. Bethany Douty officiating.

Interment will follow in Price's Cemetery at Romeo.

Active pallbearers will be Allen Evans, Roger Massey, James Collins, Ricky Presley, William Carter, Shane Ball, Justin Evans, Kenton Brotherton, and Tanner Collins.

Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Wykle, Jimmy Carter, Glenn Morefield, Donnie Solomon, Scott Brotherton, Christopher Brotherton, Tony Ricker, Joe Waddell, Jason Foshie, George Mauger, and Gentson Weems.
