Claude Milton Barrett, 78, passed away peacefully from illness on March 1, 2014, in Pueblo, Colo. He was born in Quinter, Kan., on Sept. 14, 1935, the oldest of three children to the marriage of Fred and Velma (Blackwill) Barrett. After graduating from Quinter High School, he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Fort Hays State University. He later earned his master's degree in social work from the University of Northern Colorado. Claude started his career with the Aurora Police Department and later worked various positions within the Colorado Department of Corrections. He retired as a parole supervisor in 1994. He was united in marriage to Donna (Lake) Barrett on Sept. 17, 1957, in Longmont, Colo. Claude loved spending his life with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Randy (Nita) Barrett, Jeff (Shireen) Barrett, Kerry (Marla) Barrett; mother, Velma Barrett; sisters, Rhonda (Rod) Fisher, Lynette Clements; grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Barrett; and daughter, Melony Barrett. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, Majestic Baptist Church, 494 E. Hemlock, Pueblo West, Colo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pueblo Young Life, Summer Camp Scholarship and/or Majestic Baptist Church, through the funeral home.
