Ima Jean McBurney Authement, 86, of Lake Charles died at 1:35 PM Sunday.

Mrs. Authement was born in Dallas and lived all of her life in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School and worked as a bookkeeper at Associates Finance and Men's Discount Shop.

Mrs. Authement and her sisters enjoyed singing. Her father was a Nazarene Minister established the First Nazarene Church in Westlake and often his wife played the organ and Mrs. Authement and her sisters sang. Mrs. Authement loved to sing and loved her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Lake Charles.

Her parents, the Rev. H. B. McBurney and her mother Ima Swann McBurney along with two sisters Kathleen Assunto and Eloise Watkins Smith preceded her in death.

She is survived by the love of her life for over sixty years; three sons; two sisters; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 06, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Richard Beckham will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday will be from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Visitation Thursday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
