Sylvia Arlene (Johnson) McDaniel
Sylvia Arlene McDaniel, 88, Springfield, Mo., died at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, in Mercy Villa.
Sylvia married Gilbert I McDaniel in July 1929. A homemaker, she was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church. Sylvia enjoyed cooking big meals, crocheting, writing poetry, and bowling. She was active in the Debate Club in high school, and taught people to read, sponsored by the Girl's Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert I. McDaniel, January 10, 1984; three sons, Ivan, Gary, and Kent; and two brothers, Vincent "Pete" and Jim.
She is survived by two sons, Dan McDaniel and wife Pat, West Plains, Mo., and Craig McDaniel and wife Jeanie, Springfield, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Susan McDaniel, Springfield, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
