Agatha Adelheid Bendix, age 93, of Mankato and formerly of New Ulm, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.

Service will be 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until the service at the mortuary on Tuesday. Private family burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.

Agatha was born on July 8, 1916 in Pleasant Mound Township, Blue Earth County, MN. She was the daughter of Herman and Emma (Pfeil) Urban. Agatha was baptized, confirmed, and attended parochial school at St. John's Lutheran Church in Antrium Township. She attended and graduated from District 5 Public School. In 1947, Agatha received her practical nurses training at Union Hospital in New Ulm, where she worked from 1947 to 1952. On October 24, 1952 she married Herman M. Bendix at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland. They lived and farmed southwest of New Ulm from 1955 to 1972. They moved to a farm in Lake Hanska Township in 1972. Following Herman's death on October 24, 1975 Agatha continued to live on the Lake Hanska farm until she moved to New Ulm in 1980. She moved to the Mankato area in 1989. During her youth, Agatha played violin and had continued a love for music. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato.

Agatha is survived by her two children and a daughter-in-law, seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, one sister [survivors names omitted].
