Martha M. Knigge

Martha M. Knigge, was born on May 13, 1872, to David H. and Diademinia Kinzie near DeWitt, Nebr. In 1882 her parents moved to a farm near Daykin, Nebraska where she resided until 1890.
She was married to Chris Knigge March 19, 1890. Mr. and Mrs. Knigge resided near Daykin, Nebr. until 1896, at which time they moved to a farm near Alexandria, residing on this farm until 1925 when they located in Alexandria where they have since resided. Her husband passed away on January 29, 1949. To them were born 13 children, 9 of whom are still living. William C. departed this life June 8, 1928 at the age of 33. Martha M. and Gladys E. passing on in infancy. Her daughter, Mrs. Bertha A. Messing-passed away, January 29, 1962.
Those remaining to mourn her loss are: Mrs. Anna M. Hadden of Hebron, Nebr., Mrs. Mary Ellen Frades, Stockton,California, David Levi of Alexandria, Nebr., Albert LeRoy, Nampa, Idaho, george R., Seattle, Washington, Ralph M., Alexandria, Nebr., John Orville, Fremont, Nebr., Alice M. Seward, Cincinnati, Ohio, Earl N. Hastings, Nebr. 18 grandchildren, 114 great grand children, 9 great great grand children and a host of relative and friends.
Grandma Knigge or "Aunt Tillie" as she is affectionatley know by her friends and rellatives has been a blessing to a great many people during his long and useful life. In her young married years she and her husband not only diligently provided for their large own family, but provided temporary homes for several other young people. It seemed as though there was always room for one more. They were always ready to be of help to those who were ill or in sorrow in their neighborhood.
In Mrs. Kingge's declinging years she spent much of her time in Bible Study, Meditation, and Devotion to her Lord and Savior who she knew and loved so well
Her home was a stopping place or Haven of Rest for all who knew her well. In her quiet ways she dispensed comfort, understanding and Godly Councel. Truly, it could be said of her, "A woman who loveth and feareth the Lord, she shall be praised." Through the lenghtening shadows as the long day comes to its close comes the glimpse of a blest tomorrow with all that the future holds. Proclaimed the "Brightness" of his Promise "Come unto me and rest, There's a Crown of Life awaiting. For those who have chosen the Best."

Gravesite Details

Note: Obituary states 18 grandchildren. She actually had 41 grandchildren. I believe 4 of which preceded her in death. I do not believe the number of Great Grandchildren is correct.
