Per "Merrill Lineage" by Lois Fooshee Williamson
32nd Regiment Ill Infantry Co. F
Per the "Civil War Diary of A.L. Dufer", Daniel Stephen died just after he reported to the army on the second day of a march from Atlanta to Milledgeville, Georgia. He was not even on the rolls yet. He was very ill 2 days before he died and there was no doctor. He died in an ambulance.
He may have been initially buried near Atlanta, Ga. but most Union Soldiers who died during the Atlanta campaign had their remains exhumed after the war, and then transported and reinterred in the National Cemetery in Marietta Georgia. Daniel Stephen may be one of the "unknown" in that cemetery.
