In 1870 he emigrated to America, first coming to the state of Wisconsin, where he remained for about a year, and from there came to Minnesota & took up a homestead in Hoff township in this county, where he lived continuously for 47 years.
He was married to Andrea Andersdatter Garlie in 1873. Ten children were born to them, of whom seven with his wife, survive him. They are Thore, Dedrick, Edward and Anton of Minneapolis, Otto and Henry of Hoff, and Mrs. Malvin Dutcher of Hancock.
In 1918 he turned his farm over to his boys and with his wife went to live in Hancock where he has since resided. ....
Pallbearers were Juel Nelson, E. A. Dutcher, Haldor Aslakson, T. C. Lien, Halvor Halvorson and Knute Garlie.....
