In 1880, he came to the United States, first to Dwight and then to Verona, Ill. On March 23, 1882, he was married to Miss Margretta Momsen, who has ever been a loving and devoted wife to him.

The couple moved to Iowa in March of 1903, locating on a farm 2 miles east and 3 miles north of Lake View. This was their home until 1922 when they moved to a pleasant and comfortable new residence in Lake View which they had purchased as a dwelling place for the sunset years of their lives. Here on March 23, 1932, a goodly host of relatives and friends shared in the pleasure of their golden wedding anniversary, and here Mr. Jacobsen passed to that better home above.
