LEWISTOWN — Marine Corp veteran Russel D. Fairbairn, 53, of Lewistown, head detention officer for Fergus County, died of an apparent heart attack Friday at the Central Montana Medical Center.
His funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday at Cloyd Chapel, with burial in Central Montana Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Fairbairn of Lewistown; a son Rusty Fairbairn in the Navy at Oak Harbor, Wash.; daughters Misty Fairbairn of Havre and Sharla Donovan of Fountain, Colo., currently serving in Iraq; his mother, Mamie Lane of Lewistown; brothers Rick Halverson of Lewistown, Randy Halverson of St. George, Utah, and Floyd McFarren of Billings; sisters Nancy Schmidt of Lewistown, Penny Ross of Hubert, S.C., and Bonnie (Ron) Rozzo of Viera, Fla.
