Edwin J. Abert, 83, of Easton, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in Easton Hospital. Born May 16, 1925 in Easton, he was the son of the late Edwin and Esther (Oatis) Abert. He and his wife, the former Martha E. Riddle, celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2008. Edwin retired as the manager of taxes for Alpha Portland Cement Company after 37 years. He was a 1943 graduate of Easton High School and served with the Navy Seabees during World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, formerly St. Josephs, where he was a lifelong member and served as a Eucharistic minister
