TOY IN THROAT CAUSES DEATH OF NEIL ACHEY
A tiny metal toy lodged in the throat of Neil M. Achey, one year old son of Mr.and Mrs. Henry Achey, Myerstown, R.D. 2, was responsible for the lad's death at the Reading Hospital, Friday afternoon. The metal object described as a part of a rubber doll was located by x-ray, but when the child was admitted to the institution he was in such a critical condition that no attempt could be made to remove the object. In addition to suffering from the direct effects of the toy lodged in his throat, the child also suffered an advanced case of pneumonia, which was probably brought about by the child's weakened condition due to the obstruction, according to the physicians. The child was admitted to the Reading Hospital when his condition became critical on Wednesday night. In addition to the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Achey, the child is survived by one brother Herbert, and two sisters Ruth and Mae.
