Marthe-Marguerite was taken captive by the French & Indians during the raid on Deerfield, February 1704. She survived the long march to Montreal, and was taken to a convent (Sisters of the Congregation, Montreal) after passing through Fort Chambly. Marthe-Marguerite was baptized at the age of 12, on 23 January 1707, in Basilique Notre-Dame, Montreal. She was baptized on the condition that she would also take the name of Marguerite, which was given to her by her godmother. She was able to write and signed all of her own documents.

She married (1) Jacques Roy dit St Lambert on 24 November 1711, in the Basilique Notre-Dame, Montreal. They are the parents of the following (verified with PRDH):
