James, aka "Pa", was a pattern cutter (clothing designer) for J. B. Pearson & Co., Bedford St., Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts until he was 75 years old and the firm went out of business. He is said to have made new fall styles. J. B. Pearson dealt in woolens, sheepskin, leather and outer wear. The 1880 Federal Census gives his occupation as "Works in a Dry Goods Store".

James and Anna had a daughter Helen T. Allen born June 11, 1901, died January 24, 1930, the same day that her mother Anna died. Each was in a different hospital. Helen was married to a man named Riggs at the time. I'm not certain where she is buried, although Mount Calvary Cemetery seems quite likely.
