She was the daughter of Floyd Richard and Pauline Mildred (Fisher) Snyder. Her mother survives. In 1986, she married David Greg Smith, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Timothy; a daughter, Jennifer; two brothers: Richard (Elizabeth), Altoona, WI, and Steve, Columbus; ans two sisters: Margaret "Margo" Snyder, Orrville, and Jan (Eric) Muzart, serving with Assemblys of God World Missions in Ukraine.
She grew up in Orrville, Ohio, and was a member of the Orrville High School* class of 1970. She earned degrees from The College of Wooster (Ohio) (B.A., 1974) and The University of Akron (Ohio) (M.A., 1978; Ph. D., 1986). She had been a public high school teacher and a professor at Bluffton (Ohio) College. A resident of Bluffton from 1981 until 2002, she became full time traveler with her husband and children in 2002. In 2007, Bonnie and her family settled in Creston, where they attended Crossroads Assembly of God Church. In January, 1970, Bonnie had accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Family history research was one of her favorite activities. She also enjoyed traveling, knitting, developing web pages, and working jigsaw puzzles. Considering herself a lifelong learner, she was a home educator for twenty years. She worked for one year as a branch aide at the Wayne County Public Library, Creston Branch.
Funeral services will be at Crossroads Assembly of God Church, Creston.
