He was born in Champaign on May 24, 1960 to William and Carol Freeman Deck. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Melinda Deck.
He is survived by his partner, Christy Ohlsson; one son, Nicholas Deck; one daughter, Amanda Deck; his mother, Carol Ellis; two stepbrothers, John (Mary) Ellis and Dennis Ellis and one stepsister, Linda Cutright.
He was an independent contractor for Gumdrop Books.
