Mrs. Alphretta M. "Ellie" (Balsom) DeLuties, age 78, of Ladd Hill Rd. Lynn, died Wednesday in a local nursing home, after a brief illness. She was the wife of Rudolph DeLuties, her husband of 57 years.
A lifelong resident of Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Agnes (Calder) Balsom. She attended Lincoln Elementary, Breed Jr. High, and was a 1944 graduate of Lynn Classical High School.
She was most recently employed as a bus driver for Travel Time, but had previously worked for many years as a waitress at the Colonial and Kernwood Restaurants. She had also worked at General Electric, and Champion Lamp.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 3 sons; Rudolph J. DeLuties Jr., and his wife Susan, Dennis K. DeLuties, and his wife Linda, and Bruce A. DeLuties, and his wife Debbie, all of Lynn.
Also survived by 1 brother Roy Balsom, of Lynn, 1 sister Jean Balsom-Fossiano, of Gloucester, 6 grandchildren, Lisa Dewan, of Peabody, Keri Messina, of Lynn, Derick DeLuties, of Saugus, Damon DeLuties, of Peabody, Katelyn Innes, of Lynn and Shelby Innes, of Lynn, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
