John J. Bancroft, 72, of 404 E. Heman St., East Syracuse, died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Mr. Bancroft was a native of Watertown. He lived in East Syracuse 28 years.

He retired from Leo A. Kline and also retired from Alco.

Mr. Bancroft was a Navy veteran of World War II.

His wife, Alma (Miller, Milczarek) died in June.

Surviving are a stepson, Charles Milczarek of East Syracuse; two stepdaughters, Lynda Angiolillo of East Syracuse and Betty Goff of Minoa; three brothers, William of Anchorage, Alaska, V.L. of Nevada and Dan of South Gate, Calif.; two sisters, Ann Andres of Kettering, Ohio, and Marita DeLisle of Wichita Falls, Texas; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Delaney & Greabell Funeral Home, Pastor Paul Lamourex officiating. Burial is in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 241 Kinne St., East Syracuse.
