CHRISTEN, Walter Roy, 88, of Paden City, WV, died Sunday, March, 9, 2014 at Envoy Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Winchester, VA.

Born September 14, 1925, in Tyler County, WV, he was the son of the late Walter S. and Della B. VanCamp Christen.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a retired carpenter for PPG. He loved the Lord and was a member of the Paden Fork Chapel Christian Church, New Martinsville, WV, where he served as an elder for many years.

He married Josie Doris Watkins on July 18, 1950, who preceded him in death on March 22, 2001.

Surviving are his daughter, Linda Thomas and husband, Greg of Cross Junction, VA; son, Mike Christen and wife, Lisa of Powell, OH; five grandchildren, Tricia Dorsey and husband, Jason of Winchester, VA, Marc Thomas of Cross Junction, VA, Brandon, Seth and Cole Christen, all of Powell, OH; and one great-granddaughter, Hayleigh Dorsey of Winchester, VA.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City, WV, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 with Pastor Dale Dudgeon officiating.

Interment to follow in Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roy's name to the Paden Fork Chapel Christian Church.
