Born on March 10, 1939, at Jonesboro, Arkansas.
She is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Rufus "Rudy" Algernon Martin Jr.; daughter, Katherine Ann Knapp Cline (Patrick); son Robert Warren Knapp Jr. (Diane); her brother, Oscar "Bud" James Melton Jr. (Nancy); five grand-children, Morgan, Allie and Nicole Knapp and Connor and Jack Cline; nephew, Oscar "Jay" James Melton III; and sister-in-law, Helen Claire Brooks (Dr. Teryl).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Catherine Dietrich Melton.
She graduated from Jonesboro High School as valedictorian of the class of 1957 and served as governor of Girls State in 1955. She attended Cottey College and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where she pledged Chi Omega fraternity and served as president of the Psi chapter. She lived and raised her children in St. Louis and moved to Little Rock in 1980. She retired as a Realtor with The Janet Jones Co. She was an active member Chapter AZ of P.E.O. and a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church.
Memorial services were held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church. Private interment services was held at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
