Dice Isaiah Bennett, 84, a resident of Hambleton, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, March 11, 2014, in Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center at Elkins, with his family at his side.

He was born Thursday, March 6, 1930, at Onego, a son of the late Preston and Zettie Catherine Kisamore Bennett.

On Dec. 28, 1953, at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Betty Lee Lawrence, who survives. They had celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa Joan Wood and husband, Charlie, of Springfield, Va., and Pamela Lee Quillen and husband, Junior, of Webster Springs; five grandchildren, Yvette, Craig, Karla, Jessie Thomas and Jennifer; and seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Quint, Elizabeth "Ellie Mae," Collin, Emily Rose, Adelynn and Kenzie Mae.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by three brothers, Marshall Woodrow Bennett, Joseph Gilbert Bennett and Quentin Preston Bennett; and five sisters, Virgie Mae Lehman, Grace Florence Price, Mary Margie Wanless, Nancy Nola Golden and Emma Catherine Ray.

He was a graduate of Circleville High School with the class of 1950. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the United States government for 28 years in the transportation department. He was a member of the Randolph County Senior Center and the Pentecostal Church of God at Hambleton. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Saturday, March 15, at 1 p.m. Pastor JR Mayle and Brother Joe Akers will officiate, and interment will follow in McNeeley Cemetery at Hendricks, where H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion, Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker County Veterans Association will conduct full military honors.
