Longtime Alamosa resident William Elmer Price, 83, passed away on March 11, 2014 at the Bridge in Alamosa.

William E. (Bill) Price was born in Roswell, New Mexico to parents Elmer F. Price and Louise Noel Price. The family moved to Alamosa in 1945 when his father bought a business that became Price Oil Company. Bill graduated from Alamosa High School in 1948. He served in the 430th Engineer Construction Battalion during the Korean War. Returning to Alamosa he studied at Adams State College and graduated with a degree in Business in 1956. While in college he married Barbara L. Johnson.

Bill and his brother, Charles Curtis (Curt) Price, joined their father in business in the early 1950s. Price Oil Company owned and operated Phillips 66 filling stations throughout the San Luis Valley. The company was also active in other areas: as a partner in building the Holiday Inn and the Bonneyville housing development east of Alamosa, owning the Price East Alamosa Water Company, owning the Alamosa Tire store, and investing in real estate. Bill was an active member of the business community and a member of the Jaycees.
