She was born March 29, 1910, at Helvetia, a daughter of the late William James and Lena Daetwyler Suesli.
On Nov. 24, 1939, in the Lock Willow Presbyterian Church at Churchville, Va., she was married to Carl A. Umbright who preceded her in death Jan. 7, 1982.
Surviving are a son, William C. "Bill" Umbright of Elkins; two daughters, Margaret Hope Rierson of Rural Hall, N.C., and Lena R. Umbright of Beverly; three grandchildren, William C. "Bill" Umbright Jr. and wife, Christina, of Morgantown, Mrs. Brian (Beverly) Romero of Elkins and Beth Umbright and fiancÈ, Thomas Scott Jr., of Oakland, Md.; and one step-great-grandson, Joshua Romero of Elkins.
Mrs. Umbright was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1930.
She attended Davis & Elkins College, Wesleyan College and graduated from Glenville State College.
She was an elementary school teacher for more than 37 years having taught at many one-room schools in Randolph County.
She was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church at Helvetia and served as a Sunday school teacher.
She was an active member of the Helvetia community serving as a 4-H leader, a member of the Helvetia Homemakers Club and the Randolph County Senior Center.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ellis E. Conley officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Presbyterian Church, Helvetia, W.Va. 26224 in memory of Mrs. Umbright.
