Oscar Gustav Overhaug, 97, of Spring Grove passed away Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove. He was born Sept. 30, 1903, in Allamakee County, Iowa, to Arne and Gurine (Langlie) Overhaug. He was a lifelong Spring Grove area resident. He attended rural school in Waterloo Ridge Township, Iowa. On Jan. 1, 1933, he mar ried Ida L. Flaten in Spring Grove. She preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1995. The couple farmed in Waterloo Ridge Township, Iowa, until 1965, when they moved to Spring Grove, where Oscar worked at Tweeten Lutheran Hospital as a janitor until 1978, when he retired. Oscar loved woodworking and being with his family. He also enjoyed reading and playing cards.

Survivors include one daughter, Rita (Walter) Kulish of Onalaska, Wis; two grandchildren, James Kulish and Sue of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mark (Stacey) Kulish of La Crosse, Wis.; and one great-granddaughter, Melissa. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Water loo Ridge Lutheran Cemetery, rural Spring Grove. Burial will be in the church ceme tery. The Rev. Arndt F. Braaten will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sun day at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church Monday.
