Steven D. Dettman, 48, of 207 Depot Road, Hollis, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua after a brief illness.
Mr. Dettman was born Oct. 25, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minn., son of Morris and Eleanor (Faust) Dettman of Needham, Mass. A resident of Hollis since 1984, he had previously lived in Needham.
He was the husband of Joanne C. (Houle) Dettman, with whom he would have celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary on Sept. 1.
Mr. Dettman had been employed in Nashua by Lockheed Sanders, and Sanders: a Lockheed Martin Company for 21 years. Most recently he had worked as a consultant for several companies in the area.
He was an avid bridge player and was a member of the American Contract Bridge League. He also enjoyed reading, especially science fiction, traveling, skiing and playing with his computer.
After graduating from high school in Needham, Mr. Dettman continued his education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and received a degree in electrical engineering in 1974.
Besides his parents and wife, survivors include a brother, Gary Dettman of Springfield, Mass.; a sister, Karen Dettman of Cheshire, Mass.; a nephew, Brian Dettman, and a niece, Christine Dettman, both of Springfield; and a close friend of Steve and Joanne, Gayle Anderson of Northboro, Mass.
The Davis Funeral Home in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.
