On February 15, 1918 he fought in the Battle of St. Micheal. On May 28th of 1918 he fought in the battle of Cantigny, which was a famous battle. On Jun 9, 1918 he was gassed at the Battle of Cantigny. July 18th, 1918 he received a machine gun wound in his left leg, where he later received a medal of honor for bravery. February 14, 1919 he returned to the United States. On June 4, 1919 he was honorably discharged from the Army.
