Audrey Mae (Chain) Abshire departed this life March 9, 2014 at the Okeene Hospital. She was born December 21, 1929 to Bill and Florence (Roberts) Chain. She lived in and around Oakwood and attended Oakwood School. On September 7, 1947 she was joined in marriage to Dick Lee Abshire at Eagle City. To that union they had four children; Robert Lee, Linda Jean, Jerrry Wayne and Orville Lee. She worked in and around Canton and Okeene, but devoted her life to babysitting. She also loved her flower garden and going to check cattle and horses with Orville.
She is survived by her son Orville Abshire and daughter Linda Hysell, both of Canton; her grandchildren are Christie, Schakelaar and husband Terry, Lori Martin and husband Dustin, and Justin Hysell and Bridgett. Great-grandchildren Lynsay Coulson, Caden Koehn, Brooke Lantz, Ryan Hysell and Brody Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dick; two sons, Jerry and Robert; one great-grandson, Joseph Johnson; one sister, Irene Boden and two brothers, Junior and Alfred Chain;
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Canton Christian Church with Steve Driskill officiating. Interment will follow in Eagle City Cemetery under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton. Condolences may be made online at www.haiglerpierce.com.
