Geneva A. Aiken, 91, of Mt. Sterling died at 12:51 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 28, 2001 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
Born Oct. 18, 1909 in Pike county, she was a daughter of Chester Monroe and Pearl Thompson Aiken. She was never married.
She attended school in Chambersburg and graduated from Versailles High School. She was also a graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb where she earned a bachelor and master's degree in education. She retired from the State of Illinois having worked 42 years for the Education Department and also taught school.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mt. Sterling, the Schuyler-Brown Retired Teachers Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Survivors include one brother, Richard M. Aiken of Saucier, MS; and nine nieces and mephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sister, Margaret Aiken in infancy and Dorothy J. Meyers.
Services was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2001, at the Hufnagel-Graham Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with the Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial was in the Versailles West Side Cemetery. visitation is Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Memorial were to the donor's choice. The Hufnagel-Graham Funera, Home was in charge of the arrangements.
