Son of Dr. George Starcher. His first wife was the daughter of Elijah Flesher. She died early and Thomas then married Maria Bush. They were married on 07 Feb 1841 in Lewis County VA, now WV. She was the daughter of Jacob Bush who lived on Leading creek. Jacob Bush's wife's name was Hannah Fisher, from about Weston, Lewis County. Thomas's residence in 1880, was in Troy, Gilmer County, WV. Thomas learned the blacksmith's trade under Elijah Flesher. He put up a blacksmith shop on the south side of the river from Glenville, the county of Gilmer.
