Occupation: In the early 1950's, Mr. Abbot worked at RCA Victor Division in Harrison NJ where he worked on the team developing color television tubes and microwave devices, then at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ. He later spent most of his career at The Singer Company in Little Falls, NJ as Administrator to the Director of Digital Computer Department. Mr. Abbot retired in 1980 from TRW as the Material Product Manager.
Veteran Info: Mr Abbot served in the US Army Air Corps, Eastern Flying Training Command from 1942-1947 as a B-17 aircraft and instrument mechanic, flight engineer, aircraft engine instructor and attended the Wright Factory and Eclipse-Pioneer Service Schools.
Additional Information: During their retirement to Chatham, Mr. Abbot was for many years, the curator of the Chatham Railroad Museum, where he was largely responsible for the restoration of the 1910 New York Central caboose which now bears a plaque acknowledging his contribution and dedication to the museum.
