Robert Lee Ellison, 93, husband of Addie Elizabeth Davis Ellison, of 3706 Chesnee Highway went home to be with the Lord, Sunday March, 16, 2014 at White Oak Manor.
Born September 27, 1920 in Cherokee County, he was a son of the late Jack Ellison and Jessie Scruggs Ellison. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in WWII where he received a Purple Heart medal. He was a member of Peach Valley Baptist Church in which he loved and also served as a former deacon and leader and was also a Gideon. After being disabled from the Army he was a part-time car dealer.
In addition to his wife he is survived by step-sons; David Gibson, Daniel Gibson and wife Rita, Tony Gibson and wife Janice all of Gaffney, step-daughter; Linda Fortonberry of Grover, NC; a sister, Alice Burnette of Spartanburg; 9 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Irene Cromer Ellison; brothers, Johnny, Broadice, Mitchell and Charlie Ellison; and sisters, Rosa Ellison and Mary McGinnis.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Peach Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Perrin Powell, Rev. George Holland, Dr. Tommy Ross, Jr. and Rev. Curtis Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens with military honors.
