Mrs. Patsey E. Laswell, wife of Dr. T. R. Laswell, passed away at their home southeast of town on the Snider road Sunday morning at 4 o'clock. Mrs. Laswell had been an invalid for five years and for the past year has been in miserable health requiring constant attention.
Dr. and Mrs. Laswell sold their farm in Saline county last fall and bought a home here in order to be near their daughter, Mrs. Art Hearn, of South Marion street.
Deceased was born near Galatia Nov. 4, 1846. She and Dr. Laswell were married March 11, 1866. The children surviving from this union other than Mrs. Hearn mentioned above are: Mrs. Sallie Murphy, Kankakee, Mrs. Ann Mofield, Harrisburg; Oscar Laswell, Salem, Oregon, and Chas. Laswell, who resides at home with his parents. Also one sister, and three brothers survive, namely: Mrs. Lizzie Jones, Los Angeles, Calif.; Frank Stone, Buffalo, N.Y., and Riley and Frank Stone, of Galatia.
Mrs. Laswell was converted and joined the Missionary Baptist church in 1896 and has remained a consistent, loyal Christian ever since.
Funeral services have been arranged for Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family home. Rev. J. P. Givens, of the Christian church, will officiate. Interment at Oakland cemetery.
