Jimmy Rogers Sprouse, 79, of Belpre, formerly of Malta, Ohio, passed away March 15, 2014 at the Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV. He was born May 31, 1934, in Parkersburg, WV, a twin son of the late Guy E. Sprouse and Opal F. McCray Sprouse Berardi.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Jurica of Angleton, TX, Debra L. Sprouse of Spring, TX, Susan R. Sowell of Friendswood, TX; four grandchildren, Kenny Anglin of Spring, TX, Kacey Grubbs of Conroe, TX, Sara Sowell of Friendswood, TX, Jessica Strother of Los Angeles, CA; six great grand children, Kolton, Kendall and Kash Grubbs of Conroe, TX, Kade, Avery and Kynedy Anglin of Spring, TX.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his love and companion, Betty L. Wiggins, twin brother, Jerry R. Sprouse, brothers, Thomas L. and Michael T. Sprouse; one sister, Mary Ann Sprouse; and grandparents, Bonnie and Babe McCray of Walker, WV.

Jimmy retired from the Navy with a total of twenty eight years of service to his country. He served as a FMF Corpsman with the U.S. Marines for twelve years at Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point, N.C., served at three Naval Hospitals and two Dispensaries. He was a combat veteran who served aboard a navy gunboat during the Vietnam War earning various medals. He also served aboard four other naval vessels over many seas. He earned the rites of a Golden Shellback and a member of the Brotherhood of Sea Dogs after crossing the Equator and sailing around the Cape of Good Hope. He re-tired as a Chief Petty Officer.

He was a member of the VFW Post 4713 Malta, OH, where he served three times as commander, and was a fellow master mason F&AM at Vally Lodge Malta 145, Malta, Oh. He was a life member of Disabled American Veteran, Chapter 24, Malta, OH and member of AERIE # 2187, F.O.E. of McConnelsville, OH and the American Legion Post # 15 of Parkersburg, WV, where he served on various committees.

Graveside services will be held at Wednesday 11:00 am at the Walker
Cemetery with Reverend Dave Calvert officiating and full military rites by the American Legion Post #15 Color Guard Parkersburg, WV.
