US Congressman. Elected to represent Connecticut's 5th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1935 to 1941. He also served as a Judge of the United States District Court for Connecticut from 1941 to 1960, and Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit from 1960 to 1971.
