Virgil Leeland Alexander was born to Henry Columbus Alexander and Myrtle Jane née Alexander in Indian Territory, only a few weeks before Oklahoma Territory and Indian Territory joined to create the 46th state to join the United States - Oklahoma - on November 16, 1907.
On 27 October 1928, Virgil married Miss Minnie Ree Chism in Washita County, Oklahoma.
By 1940, their family had doubled, as they welcomed daughter Joy Anita Alexander on 25 April 1934 and son Henry Carroll Alexander on 11 October 1938,
and in four short years, Virgil was called by his country to serve in World War II. He enlisted in the Navy Air Force, USNR, in April of 1944. He served until December of the following year.

The years between 1945 and the year of Mr. Virgil Alexander's passing in 1963 are a bit of a mystery, as far as usual records go. If anyone in his family would like to share memories, many of us would very much like to hear them. But we know this: Virgil was and is a son, a brother, a husband, a father, and a veteran.
