Katheryn M. (Sampson) Baker of Grantsville

Katheryn M. (Sampson) Baker of Grantsville, WV, gained her angel wings Sept. 22, 2012, as she lost her battle with cancer.

She was born at Altizer, WV, a daughter to Ferrell and Josie (Kerby) Sampson.

She was a LPN at Calhoun General Hospital before becoming a Physician Assistant and working with her good friend Dr. Juanito Aya-ay.

She enjoyed attending church when able, both Victory Baptist Church and Brooksville Baptist Church, where she was a member.

She delighted in seeing her friends, family and anyone she came in contact with, being saved and knowing the Lord. She was a good Christian woman and a prayer warrior. And more than that she was a wonderful wife, mother and mammaw, devoting her life life to her family.

She most enjoyed time spent with her granddaughter who was the light of her life. Katheryn touched many lives in Calhoun County, both through her time as a healthcare provider and as a community member. She will be very much missed.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Raymond Baker; her much loved daughter and son (in-law) Shane and Donna Steigleder of Munday; her precious granddaughter Sophia; sisters, Ettalean Kerby, Jean (Robert "Buzz") Plant, and Rose Husk, all of Grantsville; and some extremely special and very loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters; Roxy Chapman of Kentucky and Bernice (Roma) Sampson, Ulinee Falb, and brothers; George Sampson and Leon (Mona) Sampson, all of Calhoun County.

Arrangements beyond cremation will be made at a later date.
