PEKIN ~ Mabel Laun Diegel, 76, of Pekin, passed away at 12:31 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Pekin Manor.

Born June 16, 1937 in Pekin to Melvin and Theresa (Young) Martin, she married James Lowell Diegel on June 19, 1954 in Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Jody (Bill) Zahner of Prattville, Alabama, and Tracy (Dajer) Acra of Pekin; one son, Jerry (Jodie) Diegel of Palatine; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin William (Rosetta) Martin of East Peoria and Rick (Carol) Martin of Pekin; and one sister, Linda Morris of Topeka.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Zelia Diegel.

Mabel worked for CENTEL Telephone Company for 28 ½ years, retiring in 1995 as a supervisor.

She was of the Christian faith.

Mabel enjoyed playing shuffle board and shopping. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor W. Lloyd Brock will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Don Bohlander Parkinson's FundRACERS, 2213 September Lane, Pekin, IL 61554.
