Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Ernest Smith, pastor of the Methodist church at Hartland were held at the Union church in St. Albans, Tuesday, January 2 at 1:30 P.M. and the burial will be in the St. Albans Village Cemetery.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lizzie (Clark) Berry; two daughters, Mrs. Erma Hilton of St. Albans and Mrs. Alma Briggs of Bangor; two grandchildren, Miss Louise Hilton of Bangor and Edward Hilton of Waterbury, Conn.; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Thompson of Dexter; two nephews and three nieces, Jesse Thompson of Ripley, Charles W. Thompson of St. Albans, Charles W. Thompson of St. Albans Mrs. Elsie Nickerson of Bangor, and the former, Miss Alice Thompson who is married and at last reports was living in California.
Mr. Berry was born in New Hampshire in July, 1861, but most of his life has been passed in St. Albans. He was the son of Jesse G. & Mary E. [ADAMS] Berry. He was a member of St. Albans Grange.
Among those present at the last rites were: Mr. and Mrs. John Dodge of Brunswick, Mrs. Ella Sproul of Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Blythe of Portsmouth, N. H., Mr. and Mrs. Harold Briggs, Mrs. Lenora Brown and Miss Louise Hilton of Bangor and H. Edwin Magoon of Augusta.
The bearers were: Ellis Thorne, H. Edwin Magoon, Roy Chase and Gilbert Neal.
