Jasper R. Avery, 66, of Hodges, died Friday at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence following an extended illness.
He was retired Engineer No. 2 from the State Highway Department, was one of the founders of Rock Bridge Canyon in Hodges, and was a member of Hodges Missionary Baptist Church.
Services were held Sunday afternoon from Hodges Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl McHenry officiating.
Burial followed in Hodges Cemetery with Dean Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay directing.
