Jed Butler Willhite departed this life on March 17, 2014. Jed was born January 30, 1930, in Columbia, MO.

He was the only child of Bennett Orr Willhite and Mable June Butler. Jed came to Utah in 1947 when his father took a teaching position at Carbon College in Price, UT. Jed received an Associate's Degree from Carbon College, then a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Utah.

On September 8, 1951, he married Carol Louise Campbell. Jed and Carol were married for 51 years, and raised three children: Calvin, Bruce and Catherine. After Carol passed away, Jed married Dorothy Irvin DuTemple in 2003.

Jed served in the Army during the Korean War, with overseas duty in Japan. Later he worked as a chemist for the Union Pacific Railroad for more than 30 years. Jed lived in Davis County for over 50 years, and he was a longtime member of Bountiful Community Church and Bonneville Lodge #31 F&AM. He received the Hiram Award from his lodge in 1998.

Jed was the Chairman for Boy Scout Troop 220 and later helped establish the Bountiful Community Food Pantry. He had a lifelong interest in Willhite genealogy, Bible history, building model airplanes and fishing.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24, at 1:30pm at Christ United Methodist Church (2375 E 3300 S), with visitation at 12:30pm.

Interment will follow at Salt Lake Memorial Mausoleum (1001 11th Ave).
