"Sara M Yale, a resident of Lakewood for seventy years, died at her home on Massachusetts Avenue on Sunday after a brief illness. She would have reached her ninety first year on December 7th.
Miss Hale, a direct descendent of Elihu Yale, colonial governor of Connecticut and one of the founders of Yale University, was born in New Haven, Conn, the daughter of Catherine Stoddard and Elias Austin Yale. With her parents, Miss Yale came to Lakewood from Millburn in 1869, settling on a farm on Massachusetts Avenue, which remained her home until her death.
Miss Yale's father died in 1915 at the age of ninety one years; and her mother died in 1924 at the age of ninety seven. A brother died several years ago. Miss Yale was a charter member of the First Baptist Church.
Funeral service was held at the Westhall Chapel on Wednesday afternoon with the Rev Marshall Sewell, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was made in Evergreen Cemetery".
