In Memory of "Father Karl" Fischer.
It was only this week that it was generally known in Linton that Mr. Karl Fischer, of Exeter, had passed away. Deceased was the father of Former County Commissioner Jacob Fischer, of Merchant Anton Fischer, formerly of the Wishek Bazaar, but now of Morton County. He was between seventy-four and seventy-five years of age at the time of his death. He died suddenly and was apparently free from much pain. He had just gone outside of St. Aloisius church (Catholic), after services, when he sank to the ground and died without a struggle.
The funeral took place Wednesday, Nov. 8, at St. Aloisius church, the Rev. Fr. Schweitzer conducting the services. The interment took place in the church cemetery.
Franz Karl Fischer was born in Selz, near Odessa, South Russia. He emigrated to South Dakota in 1884, and came to Emmons County in 1886. He was an intelligent, hospitable, kind-hearted man, and was liked by every one who knew him. With his pleasant, rosy face and gray hair, he was well known all over the county, and with the early settlers he was known as "Father Karl".
He was fair and upright in all of his dealings - a good citizen and an honest man.
The children, grand-children, and great grand-children of Father Karl have the sympathy of every one in the death of the dearly beloved patriarch of their family.
