ROCK HILL - Mrs. Katie M. Rainey, 86, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at First Church of the Nazarene on N. Jones Avenue, with the Rev. Ron Fite officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.
Born in York County, SC, Mrs. Rainey was a daughter of the late John W. Hudson and the late Mattie Sexton Hudson. She was retired from Springs Mills in Fort Mill with 18½ years of service. She enjoyed reading her Bible and talking about Jesus with others and working her crossword puzzles. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family and was a best friend to everyone.
She was the widow of Albert Rainey and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Ann Rainey; her brothers, John William Hudson and Gene Hudson; and her sisters, Agness Corder and Mammie Dill.
Surviving are her daughters, Diane McAteer of Rock Hill, Gloria Bundrick and her husband, Tommy of Winnsboro, Shirley Herring, Bertie Mims, Diane Thrower and Joann Mack and her husband, Allen, all of Rock Hill; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014, at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E. White Street, Rock Hill, S.C.
