Edna Palmer Cate, age 102, of Knoxville, wife of Rev. Homer A. Cate for 63 years and daughter of Bessie and Harve Palmer, went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2015. She was active in her husband's church ministries in various positions and a kindergarten teacher for several years. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of Cumberland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Harve Palmer; brother, H.M. Palmer, Jr.; sister, Mable Smith; daughter, Susan Cate; and niece, Patricia Johnson. Edna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Brigitte Cate; granddaughters and their husbands, Shawn and T.J. Foster, and Amy and David Crayton; great-granddaughters, Sophie and Claire Foster, and Shelby Crayton; friend Sandra Cathey and her son, Jeff Taylor; many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home on Chapman Highway on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 2:00pm followed by a graveside funeral service officiated by Rev. Kerry Bond and Rev. Gary Baker at Woodlawn Cemetery.
